Though many of us call North America home, there are many destinations and things that any traveler, far or near need to experience.  Today we’ll be touching on three of these needs, including the northern lights in the Yukon, polar bears, beluga whales, and dog sledding in Churchill, Canada, and lastly, the Denali National Park in Alaska.

The northern lights in northern Canada, also known as Aurora Borealis, is one of the most coveted and popular light shows in the world.  The lights are best seen between late August and mid April, however the best time of year to view them is early winter.  The best conditions to view these lights are when the sky is clear and there are no other lights around like those from large cities.  These lights are most certainly one of the most remarkable parts of this world and more specifically, North America, and are an experience everyone should see at least once in their lives.

Next, is seeing polar bears, beluga whales and going dog sledding in Churchill, Canada.  Churchill is a small town located in northern Manitoba, situated on the shores of the Hudson Bay.  While visiting this small town of about 900 people, you can see polar bears in the fall months, and beluga whales in summer months.  You could also get the chance to go on a dog sledding adventure, if you’re lucky enough.  Seeing these rare animals, experiencing expeditions and visiting the tundra is also something that very few will get to see in their lives, and it certainly is something that one should not miss out on.

And lastly, the Denali National Park and Preserve is a park that encompasses 6 million acres of Alaska’s wilderness and is home to North Americas tallest peak, high Denali, formerly known as Mount McKinley.  The park is home to wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves, moose, caribou and dall sheep.  When visiting this park you will have the opportunity to see and step on the terrain of the tundra, spruce forests and, of course, glaciers.  Some exciting activities that you could experience here include biking, backpacking, mountaineering, and hiking.

To conclude, North America is home to incredible landscapes, wildlife and experiences that you should certainly see for yourself.  From northern lights and glaciers to polar bears and dog sledding, you certainly shouldn’t miss out on any of this magnificence.
